Notes for Homeowners
2025 Trick or Treat
In accordance with the city of Mequon, Trick or Treat will be held in Park Place on Friday, October 31 from 5-8pm.
Hydrant Flushing - Friday, October 31
Park Place’s annual hydrant flushing is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2025. Please note that even when flushing is not being done in your immediate area, discolored water can occur. This discoloration poses no health risk. However, please check the water before washing laundry. If laundry staining occurs, do not dry the affected clothing - rewash the clothing when the discoloration clears your system. You may find it helpful to run your faucets and flush your toilets to clear your pipes of discolored water. The contractor will start at 8:30 am and said they should be finished by early afternoon.
What is Hydrant Flushing? Flushing is done annually in an effort to clear the water mains of water that may be discolored or have sat in hydrant laterals for extended lengths of time. Generally flushing disturbs the water in the mains and causes small particles of rust or calcium buildup to dislodge and suspend in the water. This water will show up in your household as discolored water and have a yellow to orange to red color. This water, while unappetizing, poses no health threats. Running your faucets for several minutes will usually clear the household system and resolve all problems. So other than a slight pressure loss or discolored water, homeowners more than likely will not even notice it is being done.
